Nick Rex has dedicated over a decade of service to the Lakeland Police Department and currently holds the position of Police Sergeant within the Special Investigations Section Tactical Unit. Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of specialized assignments including Uniformed Patrol, SIS TAC (formerly Street Crimes), Intelligence, the Police Athletic League as Executive Director, and the Special Investigations Section.
Sergeant Rex has been an active member of the Lakeland Police Department SWAT team for nine years, where he has held critical roles including Breacher, Electronics Lead, and Team Leader. He was a key contributor to the team that earned first place at the 2019 SWAT Round-Up International competition.
He has also served the Florida SWAT Association with distinction, first as Treasurer (2021–2023) and currently as President. His leadership within the tactical community is further demonstrated by his completion of the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) Sid Heal Tactical Command College, where he earned recognition as a credible leader in tactical operations and command.
Sergeant Rex holds a Bachelor’s degree from Campbell University and a Master’s degree from Arizona State University.
