Robert Porteus Bio

In the 8 years I spent in the Marine Corps, I was certified as a Rappel Master for towers and multiple ariel platforms for both rappel, Fast Rope and S.P.I.E. (Special Patrolling Insertion/Extraction). Once I made the rank of SGT (E-5) I was accepted into the Special Operations Training Group Unit.  There I was certified as a Summer and Winter Mountain leader which translates into a lead climbing and mountain rescue instructor.  I taught the Marine Corps “Assault Climbers Course” and “Tactical Recovery of Aircraft and Personnel T.R.A.P.” courses. I was also certified as a HRST (Helicopter Rope Suspension Techniques) Master Instructor for towers, improvised rigging on buildings, UH-60, Ch-53, UH-1N, CH-46 Helicopters for rappel and Fast Rope.  I have certified hundreds of Marines as HRST masters, Assault Climbers, Fast Rope Masters and TRAP capable units. I hold a SPRAT Level 1, Rope Access Certification.  Additionally, I am a combat veteran from Iraq 2005/2006.

I currently work for the Orange County Sheriff's Office Full Time SWAT Team, I joined the SWAT Team in 2010, I am the “Lead” for our High Angle Special Response Cadre and a member of our Sniper Team.
